MARIE-CHRISTINE FRANKEN has been dedicated to academic research and clinical work about stuttering and speech disorders throughout her career. Linguist and certified speech-language therapist at the Hogeschool Nijmegen, she combined this clinical ed-ucation with a research job at the University Hospital St. Radboud Nijmegen. In 1989, she got a full-time position as qualified clini-cian and researcher at this hospital and she started to qualify as a Fluency Expert. Besides, she started to teach stuttering classes at the Speech and Language Pathology program of the University of Nijmegen. In 1997 she received a PdD in Medical Sciences at the University of Nijmegen.
Marie-Christine Franken has worked for more than 25 years combining clinical work, research and teaching in stuttering and speech disorders. Currently, she is the principal pediatric speech-language researcher and clinical linguist at the Erasmus University Medical Centre. She is frequently being invited as a speaker at international conferences and workshops and has published in popu-lar and scientific journals and (Dutch) handbooks.
