Prof. Stefanie Adriaensens

STEFANIE ADRIAENSENS holds a Bachelor in Applied Psychology, a Master in Clinical Psychology and PHD in Educational Sciences. As a stutterer herself, Stefanie has always been interested in the processes surrounding stuttering. Her master thesis and dissertation covered the topic of stuttering-related cognitive, emotional and social processes.
She currently holds the position of post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Social Sciences and Education at the University of Antwerp. Her research interests include the psycho-social development of stuttering, student guidance and student-teacher rela-tionships. Stefanie is also part of a multidisciplinary practice, where she works as a psychologist specialising in supporting clients with psycho-social and coping-problems related to stuttering and depression. Additionally, she runs a course on the topic of stut-tering in schools aimed at teachers and is co-organiser of the ‘Stutter-Pub Antwerp’ (Stottercafé Antwerpen).
